Frederick W. Boelt

Fred, a native of Williamsburg and a graduate of North Carolina State College, worked in the hospitality industry locally for forty years, managing inns, dining rooms and apartment complexes. Additionally, he did consulting work for other properties. While active in the field, he served on the boards of the Williamsburg Area Chamber of Commerce and the Williamsburg Hotel/Motel Association.

At the present time, Fred serves on the James City County Historical Commission, is a board member of Friends of Forge Road and Toano, and is treasurer for Hickory Neck Episcopal Church. He continues to do historical research and publish books and articles about people and places in tidewater Virginia.

Fred conserves rare breeds of sheep and poultry at the family farm in Toano. His daughter now lives in North Carolina and directs the equine program at a mountain camp ground, and his son, a journalist with the World Health Organization, now resides in Switzerland with his wife and daughter.
