David Laughlin

David Laughlin, a West Virginia native, attended Dartmouth College (class of 1961) and W. Virginia University School of Dentistry (class of 1965). He practiced general dentistry in Woodstock, VT for 45 years.

In 1972 David led the clean-up of the Ottauquechee River and was co-founder and first President of the Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS), an environmental education and research organization.

In 1985 and 1999 David was the Chairman of VINS’ Capital Campaigns to build the Vermont Raptor Center, a public facility highlighting birds of prey and the new VINS Nature Center at Quechee Gorge raising over $12 million. He remains active in VINS as a consultant.

David became involved with the Land Conservancy in 2010 consulting on the Stewards of the Land Society fund raising effort.

He was active in automobile racing for many years as an instructor, team owner and driver.

David and his wife, Janet moved to Williamsburg in 2008 as part-time residents continuing to spend summers in Vermont. Janet is a volunteer and Board Member at DreamCatchers Williamsburg and an equestrian. Son James, daughter-in-law Rebecca, and granddaughter Adeline reside in Burlington, VT.
