Marc Sharp, Executive Committee

Marc Sharp “partially retired” in 2015 after a 31-year career as a regional real estate developer and multi-family builder. He moved to the Williamsburg area in 1987. During his career he served 21 years as President of Bush Development Corporation and remains the President of Greensprings Plantation, Inc., the Manager and Co-Owner of Plantation Group, LLC., and serves as a consultant to other members of the Bush Companies group. Marc is also a Certified Public Accountant and practiced with the public accounting firm KPMG for 10 years.

Marc recently retired after twenty years of volunteer service on the governing Boards of Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center and Sentara Healthcare (in Norfolk), including terms on both Boards as Chairman.

Locally he serves on the Board of Child Development Resources (for over 25 years in various capacities including Chairman and Treasurer). He serves on the Board of Housing Partnerships (for over 20 years and is a past Chairman and currently the Treasurer). Other community service includes a 9-year term on the Board of the Williamsburg Community Foundation where he served as Treasurer and Vice Chairman and remains on the organization’s Finance Committee. While serving on the Board of the local Friends of the National Park Service he arranged and made a donation of approximately 180 acres to increase the size of the Colonial Historical Park.

He is also a 26-year member of Colonial Williamsburg’s Raleigh Tavern Society and is active as an interpreter at the restored and furnished Wetherburn Tavern and, with his wife, Wilma, co-hosts at the Liberty Lounge.

Marc served for six years in the U.S. Army, including service in Vietnam as a pilot in an attack helicopter unit. He graduated from the University of Virginia, with honors, in 1973.

Marc and Wilma have been married for over 51 years and had five children and currently five and one-fourth grandchildren.
